WCFC Fishing for Kids 2016
2008 was the first time I was invited to fly up to Langara Island and photograph a wonderful charity fishing event called, Fishing For Kids, hosted by the West Coast Fishing Club.
After missing the Fishing Fork Kids Tournement for the first time last year in 7 years, I finally found myself back in a small boat; driving around holding camera gear in the the pouring rain. Everything I absolutely love about Haida Gwaii!!!
Its hard to describe how amazing Haida Gwaii truly is. There is nowhere else in the world where I have experienced the harness and beauty of nature all at the same time. Humpback whales feeding in front of your boat; Bald Eagles diving down from the tree tops to pluck salmon out of the water and short squalls rolling through dumping buckets of rain. All of these things happen on a regular occurance.
The only way I can sum up Haida Gwaii is that:
This place is just good for your SOUL.
The fresh salt air, the rain, the waves, the squalls, the whales, the eagles and everything else that you witness out on the open ocean, all combined together just seems to put a massive smile on my face and really made me appreciate how much I really missed it all.
Fishing For Kids along with the Canucks Autism Network and West Coast Fishing Club, raised over $800,000 this year. What an amazing event and a truly amazing place.
Cant wait till WCFC Fishing for Kids 2017!
