Wisdom Summer

Wisdom Summer

I packed up my Pentax 645z and headed to Wisdom yesterday. The winds where blowing, but the light was pretty good for the most part. I unfortunately forgot my tripod at home and found myself attempting to slow down my shutter to try and capture the movement of the grass, clouds and water.  I found out quickly however, that handholding a Medium Format camera at 1/6th of a second with the mirror locked up, proved to not be the best method.

Here are some images that I took yesterday evening. Its everything from Landscapes to horses to hiking in a burn area.

Equipment used:

-Pentax 645z

-Pentax 35mm f3.5

-Pentax 80-160mm f4

My attempt at a long exposure hand held. Not so easy with a Medium format camera!

And one more attempt at hand holding 1/6th of a sec!

Sagebrush

Sagebrush

Under the wide open skies of Wisdom Montana are fields and fields full of Sagebrush. For the non-allergenic type, the smell is very pleasant and calming while driving through the fields. I snapped some shots on our last Sunday afternoon day trip up to the Big Hole. We got to explore the mountain side and have a picnic with friends. Here are some images from the day trek.

Pentax 80-160mm

Pentax 80-160mm

I through the Pentax 645 FA 80-160mm F4.5 on the Pentax 645z.  The lens itself is rather sharp, but its HEAVY when attached to the Pentax 645z.  I realized that even at 1/500 of a sec the images can have some camera shake to them as well. The lens has nice contrast and I really enjoyed shooting with it.

Here are some images from today with the lens!

Final Fall Colours

Final Fall Colours

Here are a couple more shots from my fun trip to the Montana Bitterroot Valley and the last images of the beautiful Fall colours. Next time I head back there to visit, most of the tree's will of lost their leafs and the Yellows, Reds and Greens will have disappeared until next fall.

These images were taken on a variety of Cameras. Pentax 645z, Nikon D4s and the Nikon D800.
