Last Warm Fall Days

Last Warm Fall Days

The last warm fall days are slowly drifting by here in Montana. Before I head back to cooler, soggy/rainy/wet Vancouver weather,  I am going to try to snap as many pictures of the incredible colors that you will find in the Bitterroot Valley at this time of the year. The tree's leafs are slowly turning into an array of Red/ yellow and orange. The Pentax 645Z is really built for these kinds of conditions and I can't wait to get some more lenses for the camera to try to capture different angles and different perspectives.

Thus far, most of the images on the Pentax are shot with a 645 AF 45mm 2.8 lens and a 645 A 75mm 2.8 lens.  You can really see the focal length compression that Medium format will give you and the bokeh is actually quiet impressive.

Here are some more shots from the past week!

Pentax 645z Road Trip

Pentax 645z Road Trip

I decided to take "shot gun" with the Pentax 645z and try my luck at snapping some pics on our 2 quick 2 day Road Trips. We took a very long 12 hour ride to Idaho and back and then the next day headed out to Wisdom. The Pentax 645z did a very good job at keeping up with my "Gorilla" Style photography. Also, I through in some more pic's of the Niece and Nephew hanging out. This camera is truly amazing and the clarity and file info is unbelivable!

Well....this camera is nothing short of amazing! The clarity absolutely blows my mind and the sharpness, file size and colour is pretty spectacular. It can actually shoot and render pretty quick for a Medium Format and is truly a Joy to shoot. I played around with the camera today and shoot with the older Pentax FA 45mm 2.8 lens and the Manual Pentax 75mm 2.8 lens.

The camera is comfortable in the hands and works basically like my DSLR's thus the learning curve is pretty minimal. I can't wait to get some sun here in the Bitterroot Valley so I can really test out what this camera can do!

A bit to much purple in the leaves...I noticed that the DNG are not as punchy as my Nikon NEF's, but post can bring back your colours if needed.

Azore Gigabytes

Azore Gigabytes

After 8 days in the Azores, my hard drives are full and my computer has grinned to a halt! I leave the Azores with over 200GB worth of Images saved to my drives. The Nikon D800's Raw files prove to be both amazing and overwhelming when it comes to workflow and file handling.

Shooting Raw on this trip was not even a question. Why when you have the ability to shoot at 36 MP would you not? I can't wait to get my hands on my new Pentax 645Z and then I will truly experience the frustration the "spinning circle of death" on my Mac!

Ok that is enough camera Geek for now.

Here are some more shots from our 8 days on the Island!!! More to come over the next week.

Gusting in the Azores

Gusting in the Azores

The wind has been blowing for 2 days straight here on the Island of Faial. Gusting up to 25knots throughout the day, the constant wind made it hard to stand at times. Today we drove to the oldest part of Faial, Ribeirnha, and discovered 2 different churches from the 1600's. The churches are still standing, but they are no longer in use today. The towers are barely standing, but the flowers and trees have over taken the buildings allowing you to take some spectacular images.

We also visited the Lighthouse in Ribeirnha. The lighthouse which is no longer in use, is slowly crumbling to the ground and now a newer solar panel light is all that remains to protect boaters from the cliffs!
